As above guys, do you use it in place of the centerpin on windy days.

I use my 506 m for float fishing,my 501 for light legering and my 507 for Pike spinning and carping.
But you are right,for float fishing on days that are too windy for the pin...

i use mine as a alternative to a centrepin ,but also for waggler fishing ,light ledgering. i like the single handed casting they allow .i have a 706 which is a modern version with switchable anti reverse and makes for a good general perpose reel , i have two 507's one is just for trotting with the other just for float fishing ,and i've a 506 thats just for trotting .

All my 500 series for float fishing - 501/505/506/506m - trotting for grayling, dace, chub, roach, etc. 507 trotting for barbel & big chub.
I use the custom made spools available on th'ebay

Trotting when I'm going to fish far bank swims or when I've got an awkward wind and I need to fish a waggler.

The reel I use most is the mk1 507 and it does every type of fishing I want it too, from waggler fishing for Carp and Tench to stick float fishing on a river for Roach and Chub, originally designed for Salmon and Pike spin fishing there really isn't a need for any other reel from the series.
