no fishing now- but I think all of us (at our advanced ages!) would see the Eagle as a scary place now - not the idyl of our youth

dont think the area has changed- just our threshold of fear!

i remember us recovering gas meters which had been stolen, emptied and then chucked in the lake!

Eagle Pond today. ImageImage
If you have no grease with you, and your rings are full of ice, do not cut out the ice with a pen-knife but get your man to put the rings one by one in his mouth, and so to thaw the ice.

When the water was low we used to set the rods up in the water... Thigh waders were required in those days...
We were always careful to put a pair of plimsoles in the bottom of your box as they turfed you out of the Eagle pub if you were wearing waders...  :Hat:
Just one more cast love, and I'll be on me way home

Leave nothing but footprints, take nothing but pictures and memories

Tony and I walked round to the Chinese restaurant in the High Street.

The reaction of the owner " You no come in- you have Fishy Boots!" will never be forgotten!

Happy Days
