And I know it contravenes the posting of link agreement, but surely, you wasn't, was you?

You could buy a decent reel for that much money and still have change for fish and chips. That is auction fever and total madness. Still it was obviously worth it for somebody. I bet the seller is whooping for joy and never expected that much for it.

Amazing.
Not only was it worth it to someone - but there was a second bidder over £500 as well. I must be missing something. Is there a gold carat stamp somewhere on the "metalwork"? Did Miss Kylie Minogue catch a 20lb barbel using it [no mention of a letter of provenance to go with that of the aforementionned FJ Taylor rod] ?!
I've a mint condition, boxed with paperwork "baby" Mitchell 204 that I was planning to give a run out chubbing on the Wey on Monday but, gentlemen, shall we start the bidding at £200.......?!!

That's amazing. I knew the cardinals were getting desirable but that's crazy. Hope whoever brought it enjoys it!

Thar seems a crazy amount to pay for a relatively modern reel ?
I had 3 Cardinal 55s, but I don't think they were worth anything like that money for the 3.
It there something special about this reel ?
Bob

Very depressing, I am trying to pack everything up and move house. This involves "getting rid of stuff", how can I possibly dispose of anything with the thought at the back of my mind...."someone, somewhere will pay megbucks for this bit of old tat".
I shall now go and retreive everything from the car boot sale box!
I have a cardinal 40 & 40A and 333, which I shall now look upon in a new light!

And this is why I can't understand for the life of me why ABU is not given a prime place in this forum section, instead of being relegated to 'Other Reels.'

Anyone else want an ABU section setting up.
