Priory rod in use

I restored this little three section Priory rod some time back and although I put a picture of the restored rod on the Forum I have not shown it in use (I don't think). Last week I remembered to take it out of my bag and coupled it to a Match reel and fished bread on the bottom striking at mainly lift bites with a bodied waggler. Being our local commercial the fish are pretty thick on the ground and give any rod a fair old crack of the whip, this day was again no exception. Many many fish fell to this rod and sometimes the bend got a little scary especially when the fish made a lunge for my feet area. here are a couple of the many pictures we took on the day....

Very nice. I had a Priory Barbel rod. A superb bit of kit which I sometimes regret selling but pennies being saved for another. A cracking photograph !

My better half took the pictures Barbulus, I shall pass on your kind comment to her.. bless her little cotton socks  This rod really is a joy to use and its only failing is the shortness of the handle. I intend to make a small dolly section to overcome this minor quibble. Here is another picture I have picked out which shows just how far these cane rods can go....( touches wood and crosses fingers for next session with the rod!!)

I must just add that the angle of the shot does tend to make it look like it is about to snap...take my word for it..it is not as bad as it looks. You would also think that a bend like this would put a set in the rod but I can assure you that this rod is still as straight as a die. Maybe that is a testament to the quality of these Priory rods.

Great pics, I'm part way through restoring an identical rod.
