ABU 333

Post by Gammarus »

Today I've stripped down my 333, cleaned it of old grease & gunk and put it all back together in the right order  .
All great and working well, so have decided this is definitely the reel to go with my Hardy Wanless, it looks OK and balances well - certainly better than the 40's I was thinking about.

On the reel foot is 110700 would I be correct in thinking this is Nov/1967/first run of the model?
That would tally with my recollection of when I bought it.

The date would be correct for your reel and May 1967 was the first release of the 333, is it in the old hammerite looking paint?
Based on the early 444 from 1957 the 333 was very much a budget reel from Abu but in my mind one of the smoothest they made, get a new one and they really do stand out.
