Sweet's tackle, Usk
Just popped in for the first time today - what a wonderful shop. Very old fashioned, Jean the proprietor is bloody lovely and every angler should pop in and give her all their Money! I wouldn't say it's particularly well stocked or cheep but that just really doesn't matter!

No, he was shopping Dave.

She is legendary around some parts although I have not met her yet. I must rectify that soon

She's a lovely woman and has a great shop! Some of the stuff there looks like it's been there since it opened!

Re: Sweet's tackle, Usk
Back in the seventies there was an annual match on the Usk with a trophy donated by Lionel Sweet the original proprietor of the shop. He was a well known game fisherman and had an ulterior motive in arranging the contest as it was allowed on the understanding that the coarse fish caught were removed. The river board? (Is that what the EA were called then? My memory fails me) supplied tanks in trailers and followed the weigh in around collecting netfuls of prime dace and some cracking roach too
Where they went, I don't remember but there were some stunning dace in the river at that time.
