Now I can see it! The writing on that rod and Grove rods is identical. And so are Abbey rods........

I was trying to point out that several rod manufacturers appeared to have tried this avenue of rod building with aluminum although none long lasting.
My Dad worked for British Aluminium and edited the company magazine. He was given an aluminium rod which I assume was an Aspindale. I have a vision " frozen " in my memory as I completed a cast with a ledger- both ferrules snapped and briefly all three parts were separate and airborn!. Keswalls helped me with two brass ferrules and some araldite. My Dad was a gentle man and I only got " the look" when he next took it from the bag!
