What is a good hook type and size for drop shotting for perch using worms.

Hi Mark,
I use any hook (size 6 to 14) that comes with a loop to directly attach the line. I don't mind about the techniques. Use them for trotting maggots as well as for drop shooting worms.

Mark, any eyed hook will suffice if you are not using a wire trace, if the water has no pike then I'd use an ordinary eyed pattern and attach it via a palomar knot with a tail of about 18" when you have cinched the knot down thread the tag end back through the eye, this makes the hook stand proud of the line, which is what you want...
Here's a youtube clip to explain...

There is a fox LS1 long shank hook that I use, I crush the barb first. They are also great for eels at night or small live baits for perch.

I find most find wire hooks are fine although I prefer the longer shanks as it makes putting the worm on easier.
I also believe the secret is using a proper drop shot knot as this gets the hook at the right angle for presentation and reduces deep hooking to almost zero.
