Another nice day - sun and occasional light hail and snow showers. perfect grayling weather . Wild garlic in leaf (one of which made a nice garnish to my sandwich )and buzzards wheeling and mewing. Steady but good sport on trotted worm- six grayling including one solid customer of 2-7 . Same number of out of season trout- all in lovely condition. Only downside was seeing some bloody cormorant eating one of our fish.

A tad after the original post, but just to say I have got the grayling bug this year. Had quite a bit of success on the Itchen to 1lb 12 oz. awaiting the magical 2lber.

I love a bit of grayling fishing in the cooler months, both trotting and on the fly. We certainly don't get lots of 2lb plus fish on my local stretches but I do live in hope of a pb. The Itchen is a fabulous river Tony. Enjoy it
