Milwards Floatrover brough back to life
Picked up this 11ft Milwards Floatrover last year, it was all origional, the floatrover decal is complete and the blank was in pretty good nick, but it had had a hard life, the rings were rusty, the tip and butt rings had the inserts missing, and butt ferule and counter were knackered.
Firstly in no particular order thanks to the following TFF members;
Wagtail for the period Millwards butt ring, Fredline for the matching period tip ring, and Paul D for the superb red/black jasper thread which looks amazing on the finished rod.
Although the origonal rod did not have inters, I decided to whip the rings with the jasper thread, and tip them off with a matching dark red thread, which I think is a nice finishing touch.
It was a very challeging blank to varnish, I used Mylands No8 semi-gloss which seemed hard to get nice even coats, plenty of rubbing down between coats I got there and I am very happy with the finish, I realy like this varnish, it looks lovely and not so flashy to the fish.
The rod feels lovely in the hand, and I look forward to christening it next weekend.

Lovely job Pafpuff

Great job that rod looks smashing and that whipping silk is a great choice too. Well done!
