A Happy Outcome

Remember this?

My Match Aerial developed a serious limp. I asked where I could get it fixed and a certain TFF member offered to see what he could do. I have to admit that I thought Gary Mills might be the best bet after all, he's been doing this sort of thing for years, but there was more to it than that. The reel in question belonged to my dear old mate Bunny who sadly died last year and this is the reel he used on his last ever trip to a river. Bunny was also an amateur engineer and would potter in his garage with his extensive collection of lathes, drills etc. The thought of a fellow traditionalist doing the job felt entirely appropriate.

The work is complete and I am knocked out by the quality of it. The new foot is brass and looks like the way Aerials should have been made. My saviour wishes to remain anonymous which I totally respect but let me express here, quite publicly, my gratitude and appreciation for the generosity and skill he has shown. Yet another massive act of kindness on this wonderful web forum.

Like the look of that, certainly looks better than the original.
I to have experienced the kindness of a forum member and all he wanted was for me to pass on the goodwill he gave me to someone else which I was only to pleased to do.He was absolutely correct in that it gives you good feeling when you can help out a fellow member. :Thumb:
