Walker "Style" net update.

Well, Here it is, I have finally finished my budget "Walker Style" net, basically since the last post I have added intermediate whippings to the net arms in black, and on the pole, I used silver intermediate whippings as I had a bit of a spool of silver thread left, it has had a fair few coats of varnish, as have the arms, the net has now been fitted, also, a leather washer underneath the spreader . I was a bit concerned that the silve whippings would be a bit too "Blingy" but with the varnish I think they are satisfactorily muted, plus, they match the silver button on the bottom of the pole.

The net is ready now for hopefully some Spring Tench.

Cracking on with another one soon I think, maybe a slightly different design, with longer arms.

I have just realised that in the corner there is another " almost vintage " sea rod that I am rebuilding, it is a circa late 80's to 90's ZZiplex Quattra, wont be of too much interest on here I suppose, but it will be part of my "to use" older sea angling gear .

That's lovely!

The silver intermediates set it all off a treat.

Actually Nobby, its a sand display !

I started collecting sand specimens from Rivers , Streams, Deserts ,Mountains and Beaches about 20 years ago, and now have examples from all over the world,Australia to USA to Europe, New Zealand, Fiji, and almost everywhere else, including Pyroclastic dust from several Volcano craters ( they were a bit dodgy to get ) and some specimens from deep under the ocean, collected for me by one of my sons who is a deep Sea Saturation diver. I always carry a few self seal plastic bags when I go anywhere abroad to collect any new specimens.
There are about 700 plus pecimens, both on the photos and elsewhere in the house, I try to keep my specimens and those brought by others seperate.

It is a bit of a talking point for visitors. :dance2:

Good Point Nobby,

I just collect, make the racks and bottle and label the sand, "She Who must Be Obeyed "is in charge of that side of things. :laugh
