First Day of the season

First day and down on the Lea at Fishers Green. Having lashed out £80 on a Ware A/S ticket, which gives me access to the fishery, I thought I'd try my luck with a bit of spam by the bailey bridge. 3 hours and maybe a single knock, but no sign of any fish, and in talking to the bailiff, nothing else coming out either. This used to be the best chub and barbel venue in the area, but I don't know where they've all gone. So a blank, it started to rain and I thought the England/Wales game would be more attractive and I called it a day. However in the words of Arnie, I'll be back.

I also note I've been promoted to bleak. A fish that has bailed me out on several occasions

I'm fairly local to that area, but fish the lakes...I saw a 26lb mirror Carp come out a bit further south last year... Nice spot tho!

If I was a fish, I'd be right at that beautiful spot!

I've always found that the early days of the season on the rivers promise more than they deliver. Keep the faith, things will improve :Thumb:

Oooh I know that spot very well! Caught a couple of barbel around there although its been at least ten years. I recall other side of the bridge, upstream, is a nice deep bank that always held a few whiskers in higher water! Good luck and keep at it!

Know that spot very well. Indeed FG ( only for the last 6 years) .. My understanding of the venue is that there are some big lumps in there ......but not many . The essential requirements to catch are loads of time/ patience . I like to sit down and catch what comes along ... FG is a lovely place but not large quantities of fish
