I have just become the proud owner of a Silex No 2 and a Silex Major.
I would like to be able to actively use the reels . However could I get some advice please ?
The reels appear to be set up as right hand wind ( ie to be used with the left hand holding the rod ) . This would mean the " brake" would be behind the reel . Was this the way they were designed ?
If so are they possible to to change round to right hand wind ? If so does this mean just a change of the pawl or is it more complicated ?
I will post a couple of photos of the workings if that would help .
Also does anyone have any copies of the original Hardy catalogies or articles about casting and usage of the reels please ? I have noticed a photo of such a reel in The Pike and the Pike Angler by Fred Buller and that reel is set up for right hand wind , he seems to highly rate them too .
Thanks !
