I have been wearing British Army cold weather boots for the last couple of years.

I have only been wearing one pair of thin cotton socks with them and have found them to be fine, even on the coldest days. They are also waterproof right up to the top.

Good value for money too. Shop around and you will find them cheaper. I paid £35 for mine. Brand new, still with the tags on

First link are Lowas I think. Can highly recommend them. They do serve me better than my wellies with 5mm Neoprene. I do wear them with Woolpower socks.

When it is really cold I wear neoprene wellies but with reflective insoles to reflect the body heat back to the feet, fleece welly liners and ex army white arctic socks.

Skee Tex Field Boots take some beating. Very warm and comfortable with replaceable fleece liners. £60/70 and worth every penny.

I forgot about the warmest and most comfortable things I have (I rediscovered them when have a sort through this morning!): sheepskin boot liners.
They are like a sock with fabric on the outside but inside is sheep fleece. They are amazing, although you probably need a welly half to one size larger to accommodate them and you wear them like socks so your bare feet are against the wool. They keep your feet toasty warm but not sweaty. I don't know where I got them from sadly, but I highly recommend them.

I have used a pair of these for the last 7 years, usually on a winter beach at night, with cold easterlies blowing , and cold sea washing over my feet .

Nice fleece lining, thick thick soles ,toasty warm, never let me down.

I can only find these but they look better than mine as they are longer.
