River Blackwater Yesterday 1400-1530hrs

Had some bait to use up so took myself down to the local Blackwater...........

Image

Not weighed but measured 11 inches and quite chunky. On trotted bread and 'pin to 2lb Maxima. Sadly no more came to this set up

So after a bit of head scratching decided to go for the mag&wag well over depth, so really mag, wag&drag :Hahaha:

Two runs through and this lost scamp decided to visit.........

On light gear this was a bit of a strain; not only on the tackle :Hat:

Seemed to take forever to get in with both of us needing a good breather to recover.

With the onset of rain and the swim wrecked by my new friend, time to get home for a decent cuppa and not the usual flask horror

Dreadful singing was heard all the way home.

As ever,..........

I think roach survive better in suburban environments - too may bodies about for cormorants to be happy.

Well done on catching from a river that comprises of 80+% sewerage outflow. That however does keep the water warmer in winter!
(The Chertsey Bourne at Chertsey Meads is another example with bags of roach in very cold weather.)

The section just below where the Blackwater joins the Loddon and lower down from there to the Thames holds some very good fish of all sorts.
