Sowerbutts Pole/Rod.
Drooling, although not obligatory, is permitted:
What an artist Paul Cook is. The job he has done restoring this Victorian Roach Pole/Rod is exquisite
Now all the Mole has to do is catch a 2lb roach on it!
Paired very nicely with an old Victorian Winch.....even if the roach do not want to play, at the very least the Fat One will look the part.
As ever,..........

Excuse me Whist I dry my keyboard!
I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete.

The writing is more worn than that but is still legible. The address shown is 8 Commercial Street, Shoreditch.......this dates it about 1875/76 before they moved to the address on your example
So definitely Victorian and a venerable piece of history
Many thanks for the kind words from the other posters and indeed Richard C you can have a waggle if we can arrange The Gonkathon as soon as they finish their 'oggins
