Although carrying spawn like several of our records of the past, a massive 83 lb mirror has been landed from Wingham Fisheries in Kent and this time a true Brit' that has lived and grown there.

This was it at a smaller weight.

If nothing else, at least it pushes the weight right up from the glory hunter fish farmers.

Apparently it appears to be dropsical or spawn bound! Bloated - ??

In the picture above the fish weighs 52lb. The Syndicate has both a 60lb common and mirror. All home grown!

Lifted from another site;
Apparently it was about 60 in say July and is now 80+ so that isn't spawn. The eggs form pretty soon after spawning but they only swell in the following spring prior to spawning which gives the rapid weight gain. Most of the weight is water. To gain 20lb odd in the autumn suggests dropsy or similar, much like the big tench found on Llangorse. I'd put a lot of money on this fish not being around for long, in fact I'm surprised it's even feeding.

You wouldn't really want it in a glass case over your desk.
£2075 per year + joining fee.
It takes all sorts.
