Good story and very nice job done. Bert was a certainly a special man. I also knew 2 very tight men, mechanics at the refinery, twins. They were so tight that they took hot water from the refinery home in thermo bottles to use it for washing up...

and good for another fifty years!
I often think that the cane rods that pass through our hands may well still be in use when they are 100 years old, I don't think that will be the case with modern rods however?
I do love to see restorations on the forum, keep 'em coming chaps
