Recordette Switzerland

I have a left hand wind fixed spool reel, named above.
It has pastel blue body. I cant say I like the reel but it is well made...
Can any one shed any light on it? I have had it for years.

I think the last link is the same model too. I see it has a US patent, so it might have sold in some numbers, then. I couldn't find out who made it though. They are presumably an outfir in one of the French cantons in Switzerland with such a spelling of their name and that image of the Matterhorn on the box.
The site that link goes to is an Italian antique reel forum and they call it the 21.
I also learned that Italian for fishing reel is mulinelli, which is very similar to the french moulinette.

Aha..the language might be the clue..the 'ette' signifying something small in French.....the Recordette 21 is a small reel from Record!

They were made by Thommen, a Zurich firm owned by Carl Siegrist. There's a Thommen still in Switzerland to this day who make watches ( of course!), medical equipment and aircraft instrumentation.

I couldn't find any, other than the Record being a style of Abu offering. But searching the web in foreign languages isn't easy and I don't know much Swedish!

Well done mate.... or should I say Mr Holms!!!.. got that spelling wrong?
I am going to put it on Ebay along with some split cane rods I am not using... just in the corner gathering dust,.. nothing Special one of them is call The Thames.
I got 2x Mitchell 301's last week on Ebay and a Trudex, need to sell a few bit and bobs!

Glad to help, it's a good mental exercise ( and I did used to be a copper too) :hahaha:
A 'Thames' rod, presumably part whole-cane with a spliced tip to it?
