Trying out something new.

I was a bit under the weather the last couple of days. So when I was not laying on the couch feeling sorry for myself (
) I tried to keep myself busy. First I took the sowing machine downstairs. I've never used it before but must say it was really easy to work with. Awesome new tool I hope to use loads more!
A random size sack for some end-tackle:
After this it was time for a bit more challenging job; a rod-holder. I ran out of green thread so it isn't very pretty but it works.
I also made some molds to make some sinkers. These aren't made from lead but a 2-part acrylic. Not as heavy as lead but they will do the job.
sculpted the shapes with fimo-clay and tested the molds with plaster:
then spraypainted and coated them:
And lastly, I had ordered a woodcarving knife some time ago and finally did the first test with it. Made a spoon for the outdoor meals. This wasn't that easy but sure was fun:

You are inspiring me Trilob, I purchased some very nice rod bag material from a bootfair the other year because my wife said I will run you up some new rod bags darling. She keeps putting it off, not through lack of skill I might add, as she has made Brides maids dresses for our own children and other members of our family. I am going to get the machine out and have a go myself, but firstly I will get it all set up and ready to go so she can see what I intend to do.

It is a crook knife, really useful bit of kit. I use one a fair bit. Readily available, usually from bushcraft suppliers

I believe MGs has already ansered your question. Mine is from a Dutch webshop. Something local to you will probably be cheaper.

I like the spoon, good whittling sir. You must try a kuksa or even a pike lure. I'm fond of whittling too but it's been a while since I created anything. You can see some of my efforts here;
