ImageImageHello everyone. I’m new to this. I’ve joined the forum to learn a few bits and was hoping someone could help me out with this one. I’ve got this old hardy that needs a couple of spares and a repair. Here are the photos. I need a line guard and a handle for starters.

You will be extremely lucky to find original spares, unless you come across a wreck for sale as spares. So you made need commission someone to make them for you.
What diameter is it?
Is it a Silex action reel, does it work?
Paul

Hi Paul. Yes, everything works fine on it and it’s still surprisingly smooth. It’s around 4-5 “. I’ll post another photo of the insides of it later on.

Welcome to the TFF, Suprated!

You've got a fantastic reel there. Well worth putting in a usable condition.

As for the line guard, our fellow TFFer JW1 has made a lovely job for his wooden reel just a couple of weeks ago. Have a look here

You can use the reel without the missing handle untill you find something suitable.

It looks like there's a crack in the wood, where the line guard had been fixed. You might want to fix this problem before you fit a new lineguard.

Yeah. There’s a bit cracked and vanished. Luckily, my brother in law is a genius with wood so that’s not so much of a problem.
