Dick Walker was born on this day in 1918.

I think a toast is due tonight.

A good day to remember a Great person who gave us so much. I will endeavour to catch a trout on a Walker nymph today. Thank you Dick for the memories.

The ultimate thinking angler? Certainly one of the finest all rounders I'm aware of. A true legend who left a huge legacy. I will raise a glass this evening

I’ve been raising a glass or more ( in moderation )...since lunchtime before Mark kindly put this post on, very generous with his advice and tackle he made for people.

Caught two nice brown trout on the Walker mayfly nymph at 0700 hrs, fishing under some far bank willows,
certainly a good session.

When I was born, Dick Walker was the same age I am now, and I was in my teens, and about my fourth year of fishing, when he died. I remember the moment of sharing the news with one of my fishing friends at the time. I'll have a cast for him tomorrow as I begin my summer season (a bit earlier than he might have expected) and remember one of the greatest.

Well that will teach me to have a cast in Dick Walker's name before the 16th! Tried to cast a float set at about 9ft, with brand new and very twisted (how?) 8lb line, and ended up with a bird's nest of monumental proportions. The members here should approve, I thought, as few things are more traditional than a massive tangle.
