Homers News of the World Champion Prize Rod

Post by Fredline »

I found this description of the Homers News of the World Champion prize rods in a 1930 Homers tackle guide.

If you have no grease with you, and your rings are full of ice, do not cut out the ice with a pen-knife but get your man to put the rings one by one in his mouth, and so to thaw the ice.

Does your rod have the 2 tops?

IT did but I can't find the Greenheart one at the moment. It's in the 'store' somewhere awaiting some original rings.

Nice find John, I wonder how much shorter the leger tip is and would yours be a ten foot rod if it had the cane tip.

The greenheart top on mine is about six inches shorter than the cane but of course it could have lost a bit over the years. In the photo it looks about three inches shorter at a guess.
