What do you think, made a new net with a spread block from brass and wood, this type is not completely new but the way how it has been applied is new to me :-)




Turned a knob that holds a pin

the knob is connected to a pin that goes through the wooden spreader with 3/8 bsf thread and is attached to the brass block

Laser engraved kingfisher makes it a bit special :-)

Very nice, how is the spreader block attached to the bentwood arms / frame of the net ?
I cannot see any indication of fasteners , its a mystery to me !

I'm guessing the arms are permanently fixed to the wooden block and rather than just screw pole to net you have the bolt going through the block to screw into pole..... rather posh

I had that idea myself loop, it is the method of fastening to the spreader block I am wondering about.

A couple of screws and glue each side come to mind, but its not visible in the photos .

That looks superb. Craftsmanship in two materials coming together to make a lovely item.

On a side note; In the near future I am likely to be changing our fireplace. It currently has a teak beam across it measuring 6 foot x 2" x 7" and that will be replaced with an oak beam. The teak will be surplus to requirements and providing that I can get a saw through it, pieces will be made available for just the cost of postage. The timing depends on when the builder can do the job.

Maybe the bolt on the insde the net is the fixing to the spreader block.Then onto the pole.

Thanks gents The frame is attached to the wooden spreader block, to prevent the wooden block from turning, pins are placed in the brass block, the large pin goes through the wood and is tightened in the brass block underneath. at the bottom is a second thread that goes into the pole
