So, given that they are extremely well engineered, it will weigh the same as a Mitchell 498?

Sounds like I should be looking for a 220 or even a 110 for my light roach fishing!

I’ve got a 220n which is a perfect light line reel and would definitely be suitable for roach fishing, as would the delightful little 110.

A big thanks to Duebel for his advice on the DAM 220, I am delighted to report that the reel arrived safely yesterday, and is in excellent condition.
I was a bit concerned that the nameplate on the back was skew-whiff, but Martin also went to the trouble to send me photographs showing how to remove the back of the reel and rotate the name plate.
It was a 'Quick' job.







I am most impressed with the smoothness of the reel in operation.
To the extent that I am now on the lookout for its little brother, the 110.

Great reel, congratulations. The smoothness comes from the worm gear drive and this makes it incredibly robust.

I’ve got a small collection of these cracking reels which get regular use, both earlier and ‘N’ versions.
Although relatively similar , I prefer the early versions with the anti- reverse on the main gear ( they just feel a bit more ‘tank’ like)
I have a 220N , which is a fine little reel but, seeing the above , I think I now ‘need’ a 220…….. or a 110 .

... and thanks to Duebel, a happy coda to my tale.

He found a 110 for sale in Germany, but the seller was unwilling to post it to the UK.
Not only did Duebel buy the reel on my behalf, he checked it out for me, and replaced a faulty brake disk using a spare from his own stock, before posting it on to me.
Thank you Martin, I am most grateful!

The reel is everything I had hoped for, being in excellent condition without being perfect.
That means that it will see the light of day on a regular basis, whereas my 'perfect' reels tend to be wrapped up and kept out of harm's way.
