First for 30 years

Post by Digger »

It's been 30 years since I last caught a big Crucian on float tackle. Lift method on a single grain of corn. Loved every minute of the five trips it took to tempt .....

Well done Digger.

Well done Digger - I would guess you won't wait another 30 years before fishing for Crucians again. As a matter of interest what did the fish weigh as I see you have your scales in the photo. :Hat:

Fantastic. Well worth the "weight".
If you have no grease with you, and your rings are full of ice, do not cut out the ice with a pen-knife but get your man to put the rings one by one in his mouth, and so to thaw the ice.

Very fine indeed - does that make it a PB? All Crucians are lovely fish but any 2lb plussers are special. Well done again. :Thumb:

Hi. I have only had 4 good Crucians in 40 years. Best 3.2 while carp fishing many years ago, so that doesn't count in my book but I did take a photo. I did have one of exactly 3 in my twenties whilst float fishing from a punt but that had a flash of gold so that doesn't count either as I think it might have have a little bit of goldfish in it. I had a perfect 2 lb fish when I was 21 on the float that was totally mint and I will never forget it.

So all taken into account I would say that the 2.11 was an honest PB taken by fair means.......

As one still searching for his first 'two' I am both in awe and a little bit jealous.

Okay, quite a lot jealous :Chuckle: Well done, great fish.

After a 30 year gap, a bar of gold over 2lbs is me hell of a return! Congratulations!
