I’ve got one on order now too - but I still don’t know why they have to call it ‘Willow Pitch VI’ though - it’s a book about crucian, and what is a very real crucian renaissance, and nothing to do with the Willow Pitch! Unless someone can enlighten me?

Can’t wait to get it and read it though.

Is it just me? I really dislike that cover image, the pectoral fins are out of line with each other and the pelvics giving it an unnatural twisted appearance. I'm sure the content will be excellent but the cover :

For me, I think the spacing of the rays of the left pectoral and pelvic fins compared to those on the right, and the positioning of the fins, give a sense of movement to the fish which I like ... and I can't wait for my to arrive !!!

I always had an issue with Chris Turnbull’s illustration of a roach on the rear of ‘Gentle Giants’. One day however I got to watch a huge river roach very close up, for a good half an hour, in shallow clear water. In fact it was a shoal of roach but four of them were really big and close or over two pounds. The largest I watched for a long time.

I confessed to Chris that I felt at first he’d got that illustration wrong but, in fact, I realised after watching those roach in the water that he’d got it (and the fish’s movement) spot on.

I thought you might like this Dave. This particular lake has very few crucian but they're all monsters! I got to watch these in the water close up one day. Look at that dorsal!
