The first recreational use of nitrous oxide in the U.K. is recorded as taking place on 1799! Back then, the laughing gas party was exclusive to the aristocracy.

My bet is that some gentleman angler beat John to the idea by at least 100 years! :Chuckle: :Chuckle: :Chuckle:

With the advent of " Vintage ledger line indicators" being promoted from recycled washing up bottle tops on that on line site , how long before spent gas charge canisters will be promoted as vintage "must haves" !!!!!! :Chuckle:

I am pleased that you have not had a negative reaction to this post John. I thought that someone might be a bit 'sniffy' about it! :Chuckle:

I only posted it for a laugh. Boom Boom.

Followed this thread through and decided to make up the discarded canisters as outlined. Normally the silver items are everywhere in the gutters; it took me over two weeks before one turned up.Simplicity itself to make up the bomb and as a sinker it seemed to function well.Caught nothing as usual ledgering but proved a point. Homeward the wretched bottle leaked a foul black oze in the tackle bag and before I realised the stair carpet . The water must have filled the bottle via the wire within the swivel. Mk 2 now is ready I will take a sealable plastic bag with be on the next trip however. I drilled out the neck of another bottle to take the outer part of a new pop rivet into this I screwed a brass eye the smallest I could find in the junk box. That lot was then glued into the neck and liberally overcoated with glue. A swivel was attached to the eye free to move and rotate at will. Anything caught would be a bonus but I will give the device an acceptance test just for the devilment ...Tony
