Ace thanks, they seem ok one or two a little bent but no major problems. Would they be nickel?

They certainly could be, they are the right age etc. Even plated brass ones will come up nice if soaked in Cellulose thinners to soften the old varnish then buffed up with very fine wire wool.

Well here it is all done, ready to fish. All rings rescued finished in NCP Gudebrod magenta. Saved the tip ring copper whipping.

Very nice Ed, the sheet cork particularly looks good, is it the original? I had a greenheart rod that had the same tip ring and copper whipping, a no name rod.
