Gonks Galore!

Post by Moley »

Wally time, slightly cooler where's in the shade.....
Cheesemans Bridge that's where.

Gonks were queueing up to visit Fatty, loads of young'uns and their parents.

Loads, too many to count......

Now that's a Gonk!

Come on young Wally Boy not bad hey?

Also chub, Dace and some substantial roach. One easily getting on for a pound and half. Should roach that big be in the Wally?

Well it seems they are and a good indication of how clean the little river is. A real jewel of a river.

People are fools if they don't fish it at the Gonk Fest organised by young Rob.

You know it makes sense to do so!

As ever,....

Great fishing Mr Mole, I don't know what it is about the pool by Cheesemans bridge that the Gonks like so much, it always seems to produce bumper numbers of them and other species. In the late autumn/early winter when the river is tanking there are often good sized Perch and Roach to be caught close to the Ivy and occasional fair sized Sea Trout.

Thanks to your exploits, write ups from TFF chaps fishing the Jollie's and a few videos the Bridge is becoming famous

I think that gudgeon are one of our most beautiful fish. That’s how it seemed to me when I caught my first fish in 1957 in a pool in Enfield. Nothing has changed.
Trouble is, the fish just don't read the books......

I watched a great big shoal of them in the Wensum last year, had fun watching them around my feet on the Wye in May, and saw a real stonker in my little local stream just recently. Always good to see.

Purchased from you Ted. Fatty utilised his meagre woodwork skills to make the wooden surround.

Have you still got that Bill Rushmer rod you had on display at Romsey?

Thanks to everyone who takes the time to comment as it encourages further drivel about fishing from Fatty.

That’s a beauty Moley, I seem to remember a comment on one of my threads by your goodself - it suggested you couldn’t take a photograph? Lovely stuff sir.

Well done Moley. I must admit I am thinking of attending the Gonk Fest this year. My days (many years ago) of attracting the Gonks was down to using maggots on a size 18 hook but as I cannot use any form of livebait anymore I have been somewhat reluctant to join the Gonk Fest as I doubt I would be contributing much at all. However, a chat with Dave Burr seems to have resolved that issue as someone has to come last and fail and in that I have his total confidence. :Hahaha:
