Ok, not traditional, but I think it's quite cool and wouldn't look too out of place.....what do you think?

Shakespeare stuff is generally sound, but my experience of folding stools is that a) They're unstable on anything other than a flat surface and b) They become uncomfortable very quickly without a back rest.

If I'm static fishing, I prefer my Chub Hi-Lite chair to sit on and if roving on the river, my unhooking mat doubles as a seat.

I've got one of these, but to be honest although its a really well made piece of kit as you'd expect from Shakespeare, I couldn't get on with it. If you only fish on flat banks it will be ok to sit on, otherwise you'll find yourself sitting at an angle which isn't good for your back, although that would go for pretty much any stool I suppose.

I wasn't impressed with the storage though, awkward to get stuff out of and difficult to organise. If a non-adjustable stool is ok for sitting on where you fish, there are better designed rucksack/stool combinations.

If you don't mind the non-traditional look, the new Korum Roving kit looks good. A proper lightweight seat, but the bag attaches to it so you can carry both together like a rucksack. http://www.korum.co.uk/Item_KCHAIR-30

Not cheap at £90 but I'm tempted.

Wouldn't look out of place indeed SK, in fact I do believe the one true sovereign Chris Yates has the ruck sack version... ...see for yourself here... ...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=klHm_daPdjQ

Personally, when I'm doing what little coarse fishing I do, I'll have my rolled up unhooking mat attached to my belt loop, like having a cusion attached to your arse... ...either that or a waterproof picnic blanket....

He does indeed Scott, when at his house a while back it was there, and from it he withdrew the Goliath Gobio unhooking matt!!

Thanks for the pointers fellas, I'll keep looking.

With seating I'm prepared to go modern for comfort.

Those do look a bit posh, and a bit of extra weight in the bag may make them more stable.
I get along quite happily with a simple folding stool. Light and easy to carry and I've only toppled off it once...so far

Come the lottery win, when I create Cane Henge, I shall have not only a leather wing chair at lakeside but a footstool too !!!

If you want the ultimate seat, how about the one Kevin McCloud made for his Man Made Home?
Made from vintage tractor parts and leather from a deer that he culled, skinned and tanned himself.
A tad heavy, perhaps, but certainly trad
