Unidentified Chapmans rod

Bit of an unusual one, it's a 3 piece 13ft fibreglass butt and middle with a split cane tip.
Anybody seen one before?

A couple of other Companies did the same - Hardy being one and Allcocks as well

Three possibilities, 1. the rod originally had a fibreglass top joint? . 2/the split can top joint was a later addition? 3/ The rod was a 'special order one-off' ? Olly is right several companies did fibreglass/cane combinations, but apart from the 'Angalloy' combination rod, I was not aware of any others from Chapman's of Ware?

What it slightly surprising is the middle joint has a glass/glass splice - not many early metalled ferruled glass rods had that - if I remember correctly?

Apparently it was made by Chapmans for the present owners father along with a few others which were stock models plus one other custom made which is currently making its way back to Essex It just seemed an odd combination that way round, as Olly it looks like the middle section has a splice like the Spanish reed/cane match rods.

Ted the Angalloy wasn't a fibreglass/cane combination rod, it was an Alloy butt / mid sections with either a fibreglass or Split cane tip.

I have an early fibreglass Edgar Sealey ESS Match rod (12 feet) with metal ferrules and two glass:glass splices - one in the tip section and another in the middle section. I love early Edgar Sealey glass but it was the splices that caught my eye!

You are right Phil, some months ago I posted pictures of a rod like this, (with two splices) It subsequently sold to a Sealey enthusiast!
