I have a feeling the rod may be a bitsa as all 3 sections are a different length and there's a crudely place locking reel seat on the butt low down, it may have been a fly rod at some point as the butt is very short

I think Gamages was a toy shop but I know nothing about whether they did fishing tackle.

I have a fly rod marked Gamages, which is a similar length, with two tops are stored in a bamboo tube which doubles as a landing net handle.
Not sure who made it, but it was obviously sold by the Gamages retail store in London, like yours.

The tip is waaay to heavy to be a fly rod and its fitted with assorted lined low bells... I'm sure its been rebuilt at some point as the tip section has some marks where previous rings were whipped on stripped off then varnished over

Gamages sold a lot of tackle over their years and everything they sold in the "Fishing Dept" was top quality equipment from well established tackle manufacturers. It was always rebranded with the Gamages logo when sold in their sadly long gone fabulous store at Holborn Circus.

The bag label refers to “Fishing Dept”, as Fredline says, part of a large well-regarded department store.

A perfect example of Gamages quality.
