Milwards Spincraft 7ft

Post by Keston »

I read Chelsea's recent post about his Spinmaster and the noise it made from the loose agate in the tip eye , it reminded me of the same issue with loose gate in the first ring of the tip section of my Spincraft so I decided to get it out for a looksie . I also did some searches and there is information about the Spinmaster and the Spincraft Major which is around 9 ft but very little about the Spincraft which are 7 or 8 ft . ( edited to add this rod is just a smidge under 7ft 2in )

Perhaps a good opportunity to show it and document it . I did notice there was one for sale at the moment , but no indication of size .

I really like this little rod , surprisingly powerful for its size and this one is in really nice condition. The bag has a bit of an oddity there appears to be aluminium sewn into an area of the bag and it is corrugated , I cant imagine its purpose ?

Lovely looking rod 👍

As said the butt cap is quite special. May Nick that idea :Thumb:

Nice little rod John, top quality fittings on Milwards rods.
I wonder what the aluminium thing is. I would have to pick the stitching away and see what it is.

Chaps
Many thanks for the pleasant comments about my special little lady.

Wal - you are going to get me at it aren't you 🤣. I have been wondering about that strip of metal in the bag for years. I have no idea what it is or what it's purpose is but the material seems to match the bag . I could never see an easy way of detaching it . Perhaps now is the time to find out . Trouble is my stitching is hopless .

I think that these butt caps/buttons were on the Milward 'Master' rods?

I've only seen Spinmaster with a more usual cap and button arrangement? Unless there were early versions that changed to a more usual butt cap ?

I bought one but unfortunately it had a nasty twist in the tip section and try as I might I couldn't get it out.
It had a plain butt cap and black button with grip fast joints.
