I have a Harlow too.

Just about to be sent to Steve Boncey for a service.

Given to Fatty by a top bloke and ex Champion Angler.

Handles removed to stop line tangling in windy days on the Trent.

Big reel. Big reputation still used Fat Bloke for heavy trotting for mostly Grayling and roach.

As ever,.....

Glad you put that up Moley!

External backplate - - top button sliding knob for ratchet/check.
Next small hole down - - pin (appears missing) for locking spool in correct place
Next - - large bolt to remove spool & to get at bearings
Next - - screw holding the check/ratchet ring/spring on the backplate.
Last hole - - no idea!

Hope that helps a bit!

Ideal stalking reel - strong and loud ratchet on mine!

I have two, un-like the Moley I keep handles on mine.

I don't tend to use them for trotting, but for margin carping. For myself, I wire-wool'd them clean, especially the spokes, then used some clock oil on the bearing, which is accessible from the rear of the spool.

Mine too has collected loads of dust and needs a clean - perhaps a Brillo pad!

I was just about to comment "Wow. Harlow put a really great foot on that reel" then I read your comment that it is a custom. Very nce.

I've got small hands and I want hold the reel around the foot - that way I can reach the rim of the reel with my thumb :)
