I assume they look at it as providing a cheap day (more likely to go to them than a commercial therfore) to non members who may subsequently buy a year's membership. And provides a nice little income of it's own I guess.Olly wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2024 12:25 pm Thanks for that - on the Cttee for 4-5 clubs/societies over the years - some easy - some a nightmare!
£5 - That is cheap! Some - most? - are £10 - up to £25 for one club I am a member of. That is for a DAY not 24hours.
Then it can go from £20 - for 24 hrs.
Look at day tickets on commercials!

That's what many hope for - especially those needing members.
At the higher end many day tickets are for members guests only - a treat for a fellow angler!
Forgot - trout day tickets - looking yesterday for a days stillwater trouting - the cost for some were £100+ for 4 fish - a couple even more! And I don't eat trout!

Re: Wake Up Fishing Clubs!
The committee members come in for a lot of abuse in my experience... make a decision for the good of the club and the water and someone will kick off, you can bet on it.
Very often, its a case of keeping the majority happy...
My committee days are over, been a committee member in various clubs for years, club coach, fishery officer, club webmaster and moderator... someone else can have a turn.

My experience is that guest tickets can be abused if too cheap so definitely not £5!

Our club does guest tickets but there are a lot of proviso's that go along with it, hence they don't sell many

I think it is where you are in the country as well.
I get an OAP Season ticket for 5 miles of water for £13. The next 12 miles of double bank will cost you about £500!!
I agree with DaceAce low ticket prices can attract the wrong person.
