I don't remember ever seeing those but I did see a guy deadbaiting for pike last week who was using bobbins made from those yakult style yoghurt pots with screw tops. Exactly the same principle as he was weighting them with stones as required too. A bit big for my liking but I thought at the time what a good idea that was.
These are the Golden Years. Don't waste them.

Foil was standard at Hainault in the 70s. Brushing off the crumbs after unwrapping the sandwiches before replacing the indicator was crucial!

An old friend of mine uses Jif lemons as his pike drop-arm bobbins!EricW wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2024 5:43 am I don't remember ever seeing those but I did see a guy deadbaiting for pike last week who was using bobbins made from those yakult style yoghurt pots with screw tops. The little plastic containers in Kinder Eggs make some very usable drop-offs and Sea floats. Jiffs?, well that's just silly.John Milford wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2024 9:42 amAn old friend of mine uses Jif lemons as his pike drop-arm bobbins!EricW wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2024 5:43 am I don't remember ever seeing those but I did see a guy deadbaiting for pike last week who was using bobbins made from those yakult style yoghurt pots with screw tops. How about these then?
(They're not as heavy as they look!).

When I got this reel many years ago it was given to me without any labels so I'm not really sure I would love to find out !!

Does it have spokes ? If it does, it's a Merlin....

It will probably be a Mordex Major then.
Nice reels, I've had mine for round about fifty years.
