BB and 'Triangle Hooks'

I'm re-reading Confessions of a Carp Fisher. Several mentions have been made in it of 'triangle hook's'. Any idea's anyone ? (OK, so it's a triangular hook, I guess, but who made them and why were they triangular ?)

They are what we now call treble hooks; yes, they used trebles for carp in those days!

Oh, that's what he meant was it.Thanks. I remember reading in 'Redmire Pool' about Jack Hilton using trebles in spuds, although apparently he kept it to himself, as he didn't want anybody to copy and potentially seal up the lips of a lost fish.
