Interesting wooden stands with these reels. Would look nice with a lot of these in a collection

Re: ABU stands
I know the original post is old but being a new member it takes time to go through everything on this great forum.
Just noticing this post here, those reels were sold by myself and just to let you know (and not trying to sell anything) those reel stands are a product of me and a good friend who is also a member of this forum, James is the Carpenter and I am the Decorator who refinishes them to a high standard.
Many are made from European Oak and are a great display item, many reels can fit them too and they do come to order, they also come in several different wood finishes. Maybe I should of said before the last weekend because we were both at Redditch and had them on display, James kindly gives them away with any purchase of a reel.

And here is another one

Just so you know any stand can be made to fit any reel as long as we know just what that reel is, even fly reels and sea reels can have stands done for them.

Re: ABU stands
The stands you see in the pictures are made from European Oak and are in my mind the best there is, the finish on them is like glass.
There are other woods that get used and I hope to do some pictures later of Brazilian Mahogany and Ash.

Re: ABU stands
The darker Mahogany color lends itself to the black paint of the Mitchell reels as does the Ash
You can also display "portsiders" as well as the right handed reels in the same stand

Re: ABU stands
This is the darker timber we use and there is also added extras like Fablon bases which you can see on the Ash timber stand in the previous post.
