F1?

F1?

Can anyone tell me what an F1 Carp is? Must be a relatively new name. (Nothing to do with Motorsport)

I believe its a carp hybrid, I think mainly bred for commercial match waters.

Yes a king carp/crucial hybrid which sounds like a bad thing and probably is as they are bred for commercial waters and matches but they occur naturally in the wild and I have caught them in a farm pond which never gets fished apart from occasionally by me and a friend and was only stocked once over 30 years ago. They are sterile so never breed themselves but fun to catch on light tackle.

I agree. There are some stocked in my local water. I have caught a few on tackle set out for roach. They certainly give a good account of themselves, although a bit annoying as they aren't silver and red

i thought they were a new strain of carp produced for commercials not a cross breeding of crucian/common that would naturaly be produced were both species co-habitate in their natural environment.

There is also an F2 strain which is breed to be more hardy and wouldn't be naturally occurring.
