Swancoote Pool as mentioned in BB's wonderful little book "Confessions of a Carp Fisher". Chapter V "The Obsession Grows".
I know the pool was in Warwickshire somewhere, as BB describes it in his book "it was hidden away in leafy country some miles from the nearest road”.
The pool may be long gone and a motorway or housing estate may now stand in its place but I would love to find out where it was, or perhaps it is still there, under a different name.
The investigation continues…

The most precious places in the English landscape are those secretive corners,
where you find only elder trees, nettles and dreams. (BB - Denys Watkins-Pitchford).

Around two thirds of the way through "Drop me a line" and there have been a few references to Swancoote. Maurice asks if BB has had any luck from the surface there.

Re: Swancoote Pool's Location
There is a poem about Swancoote pool but it is not available on amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/Swancoote-David ... B0007HLYGU nor anywhere it seems
You can view it if you subscribe to Harper's magazine http://harpers.org/archive/1953/07/0006426
as it was published in that magazine in 1952 but I'm not a subscriber and I doubt it'll shed much light anyway.

Re: Swancoote Pool's Location
Well after reading the chapter again in Confessions the pool was some 20 miles from BB's home in Warwickshire, does anyone know whereabouts in Warwickshire BB lived. This should narrow it down somewhat.

I dont think this is the same Swancoote Pool's Snape as David Thompson Watson McCord was an American Poet. That's unless I have the wrong David.Snape wrote:There is a poem about Swancoote pool but it is not available on amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/Swancoote-David ... B0007HLYGU nor anywhere it seems

There is a Swancote in Shropshire not a million miles away -

There are a number of lakes nearby?

Re: Swancoote Pool's Location
I'm sure it wasn't the real name.
Is it definitely talking about his home in Warks and not Northants.
I know where he lived in Northants.
