Two important favourite floats
These two floats bring back some happy memories here on the eve of Dads funeral tomorrow morning.
The one on the right was lent by him when he first took me with him as a small boy over 50 years ago. It would become MY float every trip - text book red tipped Avon balsa and sit there in the circling brown eddies of the River Mole at Hersham. Occasionally it would nod - nod - nod away to a gudgeon or more often a snotty Pope massacring my lobworm. The one on the left was his favourite Harcork fished laying on and sometimes producing what were then impressive Perch to young eyes.
Now they sit safely on the bookshelf. I fear their loss if I ever used them again. Maybe that will change. Tackle should after all be used. I’ll need to pick the time and place carefully.

That’s wonderful you still have those cherished floats, you could always get a couple of replicas made - then you can keep the originals safe.

If you can recommend anyone who’d commission I’d be interested!
