'Old Town' Clothing

Post by Dom Andrew »

Here is something for all you old fogies. ‘Old Town’ make a nice range of old time clothing.

It’s not for me; I would be far too self-conscious to wear that sort of thing, but some items might appeal to the more brave anglers on this forum.
I would consider their canvas ‘Selsey’ hat though.

I live very near to Old Town in Holt and have been known to purchase the odd item or two - primarily waistcoats - the canvas is my favourite material - I must say that the clothing is a far throw from its origins as work wear and has become less utility more a trend (that’s been around a bit) the London hipsters seem to really like it and you can spot them a mile off when they are in town. A company much closer to the roots of utility wear is the Norfolk Carrier Company but I think even their clothing is been purchased as a fashion statement - however the jerkins and jackets are in my opinion great everyday items for garden, fishing and general countryside rambles etc.

I think I read somewhere that Monty Don picks up his stuff from this place.

What a strange (but very likeable, in places) range! Some of it would have you fitting in nicely at a Pyongyang gathering and, as much as I worship my other half in every way, I don’t think she’d look great or want to buy a coat named ‘Beryl’ (apologies to any Beryl’s out there, but it isn’t the most contemporary of names - three births of ‘Beryl’s’ in 2014, apparently).

But it does look like the kind of clothing that you’ll buy once, wear in, and have for life. Good for the environment I’d say.

There are some "Bostin" Trousers on that site.... not cheap either, but rather dashing :Hat:

I’m a bit more ‘busting out’, at the waist, than ‘Bostin’

Well judging by the load we packed away on Saturday, (Sausage Rolls, Quiche, Tiffin, & Tea) I'm not surprised... :Hahaha: :Hahaha: :Hahaha: :Hat:

Here is the hat I was on about. something I would wear in the summer to keep the sun off my bald patch.
That's not me by the way, but a model from 'Old Town'.

Maybe the could get some anglers to model for them while fishing. :fishing1:
