Welcome to the London Pole Tribe Mal; or should that be the dark side :Hat:

Using such beasts myself it might be advisable to purchase a smallish Canal Match Box with support bar.....Heresy I know for this site but practicality and age dictate such measures.

I would also suggest utilising those rings on the top section to tie in some elastic, to use as a 'topping' to protect the tip should something larger decide to take your bait. Yes it does look a tad unsightly but better to prevent tears and snapped off top section. as they are becoming almost impossible to replace, especially so if whale bone is in the tip construction like my Evans.

A pole rod can go someway to keeping appearances more aesthetically pleasing when combined with a winch of Victorian Construction:

But well done on your purchase and most of all enjoy using the venerable old cane, it is addictive with the user feeling they are on an adventure.

Certainly if my personal experience is anything to go by using an old London Pole is great fun and much cause for comment by passers by and other anglers which just adds to the enjoyment of custodial ownership

As ever,......

Splendid, and unashamedly very, very envious. After all sorts of cane rods, the elusive pole and a return to a swim thats still there after

Had a look over on a well known auction site, prices are very strong for a twenty foot.

Maybe a retirement present, one day :tea:

You are, of course, correct Sir. Typo's are becoming more regular as I continue my journey into my dotage ... and my fingers move faster than what passes as my brain does !!!
It's also pronounced 'Wulffamstah'.

I suspect it could be “love”, despite its drawbacks in the rhyming department.
