Allcocks Lake

Post by OldAngler »

A friend has asked me to re-furbish his Allcocks 'Lake' rod. Does anyone know anything about this rod?

10 feet, three piece, split cane throughout.
Locking ferrules. All rod rings lined with clear pink 'Agate' style liner.
It looks like a double handed fly rod, but the name 'Lake' is confusing. I am guessing it is fro an 8 wt line.
Could it be referring to American Lake trout? Hence made for the American market.
Could it refer to the English Lake District?
Could it be an early reservoir rod, when (possibly) they were referred to as 'lakes?

All information gratefully received.

Photos enclosed if I can master the technology.

Hello,
Its listed in the 'Traditional Rods-Allcocks' section as the following.
The Lake - 3 section built cane (salmon and pike spinning rod) 9’, 10’ 6”, 11’ and 12’
A fine looking rod and scarce too I would imagine.
