This may give you a clearer indication.
Look at the faded whipping colour of the multi whips below the logo, these are original. Now look at whipping colour of ring whippings. Are they same colour?
If yes then all whippings are probably original. If ring whippings look more vibrant/brighter then they have probably been replaced.
Obviously if they were replaced 40 or 50 years ago then all will have faded.

The lengths of the rod and sections are -
Total rod length 134" 340cm 11.16 ft
Tip section 43.75" 111cm 3.6 ft
Middle section 45.5" 115.5cm 3.7 ft
butt section 46.5" 118.5cm 3.8 ft

Anyone who has the same rod or knows about the specs are mine original sizes or cut down etc.
also one photo shows a slight colour difference in the sections, again I'm not sure if this is normal.
I have more photos on request but don't want to bombard people with this.
Also what would be a good fixed spool and centre pin to match up with this rod?
I have Mitchell 300s from the 60s and a 304 slightly earlier but as yet I don't have any vintage centre pins worth using.
would be nice to match the rod with a similar dated reel.
Once again any information appreciated.

If 3.6 feet means 3' 6" I guess the rod is full length after all, sorry for suggesting it might not be so.


The 300 reel of the period are what I use, but then I'm a bit of a fanatic about them, ask anyone. :-)

A Rapidex or a Trudex would suit for a centrepin...right period, good reels...or a Hardy Conquest if you are long trotting and can find the extra cash.

I would have had examples to show you if we had been able to have any tackle fairs this year....sigh. I rather miss the old table and a natter at the fairs.

I have just measured my newer Octofloat De-Luxe and the section's measurements are almost the same - within 1/2 inch.

I picked up a rapidex and a the leeds reel yesterday. Ill post about it in the relevant sections with some photos when I get organised.
