Edgar Sealey Strikerite nearly ready for the bank.
I have been working on this for a couple of weeks and the plan is to hopefully christen it on a chub before the season finishes, then it will probably be my go-to tench rod for the warmer weather.
It only has one thinned coat of varnish so far so another is planned for this weekend, as well as a stroll along the River Yare West of Norwich to check out a tip given to me a couple of weeks ago regarding a swim that 'holds some decent Chub'
I got the rod in a small bundle a year ago, it didnt look like it had been used much but was cosmetically challenged and had loose ferrules as well as a kick in the tip section. All new rings have been fitted as well as a couple of extras as it looked like it could do with them. The transfer was lifting but 95% complete and I managed to dilute some varnish and sneak it under the transfer to stabilise it- it looks a bit lumpy at the moment but a couple more coats of varnish and a careful rub down should make it look better.
Definitely going to get some use out of this one.

Hope you christen what looks a very nice rod. Looking at the forecast perhaps you should endeavour to go Saturday as Sunday promises rather gusty conditions!

Thanks Rutilus, this weekend was planned as reconnaissance with a view to fishing next weekend. Definitely not going to risk fishing this weekend, mores the pity, as the swims I plan to look at have a lot of unstable trees.

Very nice job and the extra rings will certainly improve the action of an already very nice rod. Well done.

You have done a cracking job on that rod - it looks splendid. As already said the forecast for us NOR - folk from Sunday is really very windy continuing to push through into the following week.

Super job, looks a cracking rod. The green thread looks really nice on that cane. Look forward to hearing about its first encounter with a chub.
