Oh yes, sorry having a slow day... :Chuckle:

Just to confirm they are not related, just happens that the chap who left the sword was at one time married to a lady with the same name. :Hat:

Makes you wonder what else has been deposited over the years.
Better have Baldrick present when Skeff de-silts the pool.

Having just returned from a visit to this iconic venue, I can understand the different views, it is heavily fished. We were there from Wednesday to Friday and as we left the next party was arriving. Unfortunately, that appears to be the economics of running the fishery, less anglers equals greater cost, putting it out of reach for some.

Does anyone know if the Sword in the shallows has been found yet?
I'm not sure about the sword but my phone got retrieved and was also still working after 18 hrs submerged. That pool has a magic in it.

God never did make a more calm, quiet, innocent recreation than angling.

It is interesting how people make pilgrimages to 'holy places'.

I've never done that and even when I was in in regular correspondence with Dick Walker in the 1970's it never occurred to me to actually want to fish Redmire. I have always been happy to read about others exploits there; I find my own 'Redmires' elsewhere!! No 44lb carp admittedly.....
Trouble is, the fish just don't read the books......
