I bought some rod corks and was sent a catalogue at the same time

a wonderful reminder of gentler times

i like the non PC comment about "men" rather than "girls" being strong enough to do the whippings- and then the photo of two young lads doing it!

Ted kindly sent me a couple of those two. It was interesting to see him pressing nodes in a vice as he says was done at Southwell's all those years before, when so many of us had heard of the 'hot node press' Southwell was supposed to use according to one writer.


Ted also writes in the Catalogue of how he flames the cane to remove water content and is clearly unimpressed with baking as a means of doing it.
